Three honest tiers, not the “for two adults” trap.

Every tier assumes one adult and one or two kids, sharing rooms and meals. We price the BUDGET tier from a real pousada stay, the FAMILY-COMFORT tier from a 2‑bedroom apartment, and the SPLURGE tier from a working farm with on‑site dinner service.

Croatia’s interior and the smaller islands feel quiet in shoulder season, with low traffic and host families that sit down for dinner with you. Verified on a one‑adult, two‑kid week in June 2026.

Zagreb, Zadar and Split airports each have a 24h reception desk

All three airports run a staffed information desk in arrivals. Wheelchair‑access assistance translates on the spot for kid‑seat and stroller logistics; ground taxis are pre‑bookable through the desk.

Konoba rooms have a host family downstairs — late‑night arrivals are met in person

Every featured konoba room is on a working farm with the family in residence. They will meet you at the gate with a key and a list of the local pharmacies, with the front door opening until 23h.

Istria and the Kornati are mosquito‑light and have clean pebble coves only

The published coves are graded by SolAtlas as sand‑free pebble; the water is shallow for the first 8 m around every featured cove. Never swim at any cove the host family hasn't named by name.

Plitvice lakes are stroller‑friendly on the lower loop, not on the upper

The lower‑lakes walk is paved, ramped, and under 4 km. The upper loop is 200 m of elevation with no shade — recommended for kids aged 6+ in summer heat.

Alternative stays
